Hi everyone,

I have a 1.9 multijet Grande Punto 2006 and have recently, and suddenly started losing all power.

Ill be driving along fine and go to pull away and the acceleration will be extremely slow. Feels like im pulling a lorry behind me. I think the turbo is ok as I can feel a slight increase in power around the 2500RPm mark which is where it normally kicks in.

I replaced the fuel filter and cleaned the EGR valve, but neither of these has solved the problem.

If I pump the gas pedal while its pulling really slow, the engine kinda picks up acceleration a bit better but it isn't as it should be.

Does anybody think they might know what might be a good thing to check next??

Thanks for reading, hope ive provided enough info for somebody to possibly help me smile

Hi Jeoff,

Good idea but no its not that because, as I forgot to say, the problem is very intermittent. Like it'll come and go, be fine, then go again!

Thanks,

Do no fault codes come up? Without knowing which bits of electrickery your car is fitted with it's impossible to say but probably an intermittent electrical connection on a throttle position sensor, crank sensor or similar.

Split air hose on the turbo. I had this recently and it was driving me mad. Was only a tiny split level with the jubilee clip, and impossible to see until I had removed the hose.

Hi Puma and Sunbeam

The engine mgmt light isnt coming on so I am guessing there are no codes.

Sunbeam, was that a big job to repair the hose or is it something simple to replace?

Thanks,

On my car it was dead simple - undo 2 jubilee clips, remove old hose, push on new hose, pull off new hose again because I'd forgotten the jubilee clips, push on hose again, tighten jubilee clips.

Home in time for tea and medals!
