ps3 slim hdmi set up

only had the system a week but trying to get the hdmi set up which what i can gather from internet can be a pain! so on display set up im asking it to find hdmi but screen goes blank for 30 secs then back to before. have tried both hdmi sockets but no joy. when i do hdmi from ps3 to my surround sound that is fine.

Have you switched the TV you are viewing it on to HDMI when it goes black?

press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds i think with the hdmi connected from the ps3 to the tv and it should automatically sync iirc!

didnt think you had to switch tv thought that was point of hdmi amongst other things? my dvd worked fine on tv out of the box.

When it goes black on the AV (scart/red white yellow) you need to switch to the HDMI input (source button on TV remote) and select yes on the PS.

Alternatively, as mentioned. Turn off the PS, plug in the HDMI, hold the on button on the PS but keep it held after it turns on until it beep again.. with the TV on the HDMI channel, it should just come up 'HDMI detected would you like to use it'. Select yes and off you go.
