Does seem quite late in the day to make this call, when I thought the new 981 boxster had gone up in size and price to account for the smaller model coming along.

Surely with the costs all shared, a junior Porsche and a good similar vw product, would sell well and generate good returns?

I initially thought good, no need to further dilute the brand - but I just priced up a new Boxster S at about 56/57k , which is almost launch time 997 C2 money. They are getting seriously pricey now and could well afford something in the line up that maxes at 40/45kish to keep the showroom doors swinging?

As cmoose says, no point in having something that is inherently unbalanced in design (cheap) just to sell more of them.

It would hurt the brand i reckon.

If it was a boxer 4, longitudinal and lightweight, fantastic but a VW with a Porsche badge? It'd be the equivalent of Porsche wheels on a Golf.

Thanks for killing this badge engineering effort. Whilst they are at it, they could also axe this Cajun thingy...
