anyone fitted remote boot opening kit?

looking at one of these for under £30 rather than always having to switch on the ignition to open the boot.

Are they simple enough to fit for a DIY numpty (but scrapheap challenge winner )?

How do they work when fitted - is there a remote from a key fob?

shnozz, I'll do it for you.

Took me half an hour to do it inculding removing boot carpets to run wire properly and squeeze between my bike and the garage walls to do it!

I'll also then tell you how the fob bit works since its better not to state it in public just incase I forget to arm the alarm and someone breaks into the boot.

I'll show you it all on Thursday at the H&C

Just as it says on the Tin - Modwise has been a bit busy recently, you may have a small delay in contacting him.

Brill bit of kit and as Dusty says, easy to fit.

I'll third that, can't believe I put up without this kit for so long.

It's easy to fit, although I did have to call Dave at Mod-Wise a few times during fitting....

Hey chumley, don't feel too - as JonRB says, I just got David to do mine. Although bit of luck I did - the switch ended up in the rear plate light - David started telling me tales of angle-grinding platic

I have an unused Modwise boot opener kit if anyone is interested.
I am about to have an alarm fitted which will open the boot, amongst other functions, so the kit will be redundant!

Yep...i'll "fifth" that!

Fitting took myself and Coachy Wife about 45m. Coach wife did most of the work as she is more practical and I dd the leccy bit.

Coachy boy blew fuse!

Sorted with on call to David and a quick reverse of Coaches origonal muppet connection...

PS Did take over a year to fit the magnet to a suitable TVR Key fob (2.95 off ebay!)

Me too - I have another Meta plipper for this - it's great! (had it fitted 3 years ago)

Can you just clarify - do you have 2 Meta plippers on your keyring or do you have a replacment Meta plipper with 2 buttons on it?

I've got the key conversion which is the key combined with the original plipper, and then a seperate plipper for the boot. So really its one plipper + the key

I've noticed that Meta now do a plipper with two buttons. Would be nice and neat if one could replace the existing plipper with a 2-button job, although the key conversion sounds like a reasonable solution too.

The bottom one looks like what I have but Carl Baker who installed mine said a new one is coming out which looks like the top one - a bit smaller. I am not sure of the logistics of combining them both into one plipper are - would be nice, cant be that easy otherwise he would have done it, but not impossible I am sure. Would be nice as I hate carrying a massive bunch of keys around!
