So with the m5 launch been and gone is this car going to fail ? In the uk market, is there many dealers with stock cars? And can you get a discount on one ?

my guess is that wont sell like the 46 m3 or even the 60 m5 but will find eniough buyers. still plenty of people with money to burn. just not as many as there was.

Launched into a very different market from the days of the E46 M3 and E60 M5 launches...doesn't make it a bad car just a very tough market. Bloke I know who is pretty senior at a big BMW dealer reckons the alst 18months have been the worst he's seen in the trade in the last 20 years.....

I read somewhere that there's only been 275 UK orders so far. That's poor!

thats as maybe, but i wonder how many E63's, or XF-R's, or CLS63's, or Panamera Turbo's were registered in the UK over the same period, or even over the last 12 months. guess the market for these cars when brand spanking new is very very small nowadays, for obvious economic and social reasons. first thing i did when i got my E63 was peel the badges off, something not quite right with any display of wealth or disregard for the eco argument in todays climate.

bks to that mate. If you work hard then you should be allowed to do what you want with your earnings. I drive a better car than my boss, but its not because of what he pays me. I do earn a good wage but my car purchases are a direct result of how I've managed my spending over the years.

Peeling off the E63 badges isnt really going to hide the fact that its an E63 is it smile The fecking great big wheels, Quad zaust and lovely noise kind of give that away.

OR it could be that people are not impressed with F10 as they were with the E60? Hmmmm 507 bhp to 560, a 7 percent increase in power with lower top end, yay great progress! I MUST get my anger management at BMW sorted out and stop trawling bmw forums because I miss my M5 frown I still maintain the crap numbers of orders they have is because the crap they produced! Anything less than 600bhp for the F10 M5 was always going to be an epic fail, and for the first time ever it has meant that the M5 is NOT the leading super saloon out there... ok off the soap box, back to the Aston forum and staring longingly at my M5 photos frown

Don't worry lads, once the M5 is shown on Top Gear its profile will go through the roof and so will the sales.

Do you think it's a crap car then? Have you driven one yet and if so how long for? The reason I ask is when I first picked mine up I wasn't to impressed!!
Now that I have run it in and covered nearly 2k in it I have to say it's more like my E39 M5 I had which in my eye's is a good thing.....
It hasn't got the screaming V10 but to be honest I don't miss that too much, try and drive one for a long weekend I'm sure it will grow on you cause the more you ring it's neck the more you discover what a great car it is and more than worthy of the M5 badge. IMO

With regard to the MPG within the first 1200 miles it was averaging 17-18mpg and that was below 4k and no full throttle!!!!!eek You could imagine what I was thinkingrage

Now the car is over the running in period, on a steady run motorways etc its around the 25-28 mark. When your going for it it drops into the 10-15MPG, but I have seen 6mpg when I reset it and floored it straight away!!!!
I would say if you mix the driving styles it averages 19MPG, which is better than the E90 M3 I just sold, and with regard to performance there is no comparison....
I have to say that after having it for a month or so that it is growing on me daily and I feel it is a better car than the E60 in every way except the high rev limit!

My test drive was only 30 minutes. I also managed 11,000 miles in an F10 530d and I must say I like the car VERY much. My biggest problem and the reason I DO hate the F10 is because I feel totally let down by BMW and betrayed. 7% power upgrade IS crap. Lower top end is poor. M5 has always been the market leader and now it most certainly is not. All the BS about how much better the MPG is is just more evidence that BMW have sold out, I don;t give a rats *** abnout the MPG, I want power and lots of it. 560bhp is an epic failure in my book. I KNOW one day I will most likely buying an F10 M5, but for now I hate BMW for producing a car with improved fuel efficiency and such a poor power upgrade and allowing themselves to be number 3 in super saloons now instead of number 1

BMW 645ci. Individual spec and colour, bought when new on a 54 plate.
