A Valve-bothering Steam group - Half Life!
Discussion
Someone decided to setup a Steam group to pester Valve for information about future Half Life releases, and it seems to have gotten some traction!

They have a point, HL is turning into the next Duke Nukem - style fiasco. Except hopefully the product at the end will be, you know, good.
IMO they ought to wrap up with Epi 3 before HL3... discuss!

I don't get the clamour for Ep.3 TBH.
Whilst HL1 was one of the finest games I ever played - it was an epic game in scale, production, and story - HL2 was dire IMO.
The city elements allowed zero exploration, there was a raft of crappy physic puzzles that seemed to have been added purely because the engine could do physics rather than to enhance the story, and the story, well that was just rubbish. It just made little sense and offered virtually no explanation as how we got from the end of HL1 to the start of HL2. The only positive was that the water looked incredible.

And i want whole new levels of watery digital perfection! With headcrabs.Gabe is currently trolling the gaming community about this. He emailed someone asking about this on 4chan that Valve will be announcing something with a 3 in it. He didn't clarify whether this was episode 3, half life 3, counterstrike 3 or left for dead 3 however much to /v/'s chagrin. I deeply suspect this will be announced soon and until then gamers will be wound up by getting snippets of information about it.
Valve did the same thing surrounding Portal 2, with their fake "GladOS" blue screens of death at gaming conventions, the "Transmission recieved" achievement which led to that puzzle embedded in a portal 1 update that ended up being a dialup bulletin board number which spat out portal 2 ascii art when you dialled it, and so on...

Did you complete HL1? You got from there to second game by staying on the train until the G-Man comes to get you and throws you onto the HL2 train. Simples. The rest of the plot is the standard fighting aliens stuff, not that much to miss apart from mysterious glimpses of the G-Man.Whilst HL1 was one of the finest games I ever played - it was an epic game in scale, production, and story - HL2 was dire IMO.

I did. But how did the world get from normal to that portrayed in HL2 in the short space of a train journey?
G-man put Gordon into suspended animation, to bring him back when he's needed, HL2 is a point in the future from HL.It's kinda explained at the end of HL and start of HL2 if you pay attention :-P

All this talk of Half-Life has made me want Episode 3 again

Agreed. They need to break new ground again which is a tall order. I'm guessing it will be a halo game for a new gen console release.
On a side note, having started to take the DLR, the urge to run about in there with a crowbar is strong!
Edited a their for a there typo

HL2 was an incredible game, good story, good gameplay and some good addons (Team Fortress) and DLC (Ep1, 2). I’ve played it through many times.
Really looking forward to the final chapter, which I suspect will be pretty much finished and they’re just building up the anticipation like they did with HL2.
