996 have i just found a beauty?
Discussion
Sadly, I'm not in a position to change from my boxster to one yet, but a quick search found this beauty... Are they really this easy to find, or have I just found the one diamond way before I'm ready to change?

Hmmm, not a fan of the interior. In fact I'm not a massive fan of the 996 fugly unless it's in GT3/2 or turbo. All IMO of course.
The 996 is no spring chicken now but I would go as far to say that a late 993 looks more modern in everyway. I think the 996 dated very quickly.

Clear light were standard from Oct 98 (same time C4 was launched I think) so [i]most[/] pre-facelift cars had them, most had 18" wheel upgrade too (more commonly to the cheaper-option turbos though).
The ad says that car has PSE, which wasn't an option when new AFAIK meaning the owner shelled out a pretty penny for it (£2k?) - that coupled with the full OPC history suggests that the car's not been scrimped on but only an inspection will tell you for sure if it is indeed a "diamond".

It does tick a lot of boxes. The PSE is definately worth seeking out. I have it on mine. I think the colour of the interior will put a lot of people off. If you like it then good on you- but bear in mind that it would make the car harder to shift when you sell.
A lot of people do not like the 996! I am glad they don't . Because it keeps prices low so I can afford one. IMHO the 993 looks very dated (but not in a good classic car way)
There are many Porsche enthusiasts who will always hate the 996 because it has broken the air-cooled tradition. Oh well. It has evolved.

This one does look good on paper, but not exactly a rare find. If that's the car and spec I was looking for I would shortlist it for sure, but I wouldn't consider it to be anything particularly rare. Such cars crop up pretty much all the time, which is great news if you are in the market for one.
