Hi!
I'd like to know the pro and con's about de-cating the Sag, but couldn't find a thread!

Search-function didn't work...
Where do I find a good topic for that (often used and discussed) upgrade?

Pros - less heat-sink, better exhaust flow (more noise, power, flames).

Cons - now will fail MOT in UK under new rules.

I'm sure there are other bits....

PS Me and my dyslexia. I read that as 'Cat-D'... biggrin

Hi Don!
Do I need a new chip/engine management?

Well you can... but the engine would be just as happy without from what I know (which, let's face it isn't a great deal!).

If it's just a decat, I'd say save your money. If you're going for an engine rebuild/upgrade, then definitely.

What do others say?

I de-catted my T350 and the noise was quite raspy and droned at mway speeds. An ACT full big bore exhaust system soon sorted that out.

De-Cat plus modified back box from CliveF gives great results *but* I think it would be wise to have the engine re-mapped, or buy the TVR Power De-cat chip, which gives a few more horses/torques (I have found out mine runs very lean above 5000rpm... I don't know whether it was running lean before the de-cat but need to get it re-mapped nonetheless)

Cheers

My T350 is fully de-catted with the JP rear box and Powers de-cat chip. The sound is amazing (raspy with the standard rear box though) though very loud.

no need to worry about a remap, the ecu via the lambdas will gradually learn and correct any fueling issues.

Paul, are you having any issues with a real boomy resonance around the 2.5/3k mark?

So, no problems with installing only the De-Cat cones.
The main thing I was thinking of, was "saving" the engine from broken DOCs.
And 300.-€ to be aware of an engine fault, will be a good invest...

yummylick

I have JP box on my T350T. Sounds so good with the roof panels off. Tempted to decat but the family already say they jump out their skins every time I start her up. Maybe later, when they get used to it.

I love this video of a Tamora (might need to copy paste the link).

Yes, I've seen your ones before and in fact your vids are partly to blame for getting me so addicted. silly

The link I attached and your ones were the ones that made me say "I got to have one!" ...and that's how I became a T50 owner. I do love it though.

At the time, I just suddenly had the urge for a muscle car after coming from a Jap turbo. However,I couldn't live with left hand drive and the Viper was too big and too heavy. T350 was the perfect solution. Light, compact, fantastic power to weight ratio, a sound to die for once you have that sports exhaust fitted. Cheerssmile

True, but not at high rpms, only up to about 5750rpm, from memory when mapped at Power.
