Hi everyone,

I've had a few ideas up my sleeve recently but have eventually narrowed it down a bit, one of my ideas is to own an ultima! I have a budget and the sports fall into it(gtr's are a bit more expensive I've found!) I just wondered if you guys know anyone who has a sport for sale?

I've seen the yellow one for sale on this site and the purple one that was up recently but I just wanted to increase my options.

Thanks

You'll find Sports, and indeed Syders are few & far between in the classifieds. They were just not built in the same numbers as the GTR & Can-Am. However, I do know of a very nice Red one with a Supercharged Rover V8 that may be available. I'll let the owner know this thread is running and he may come in and say hi.

Thanks I would appreciate thatsmile

Yeah I guessed that might be the case. When I searched on google it threw up a few that total headturners had sold, which brings me to another question, has anybody dealt with them good/bad experiences.

Thanks

popped over there when i was 1st looking / learning what model Ultima I wanted, funny enough it was a very very nice sport he had in that i looked at , yep I found Mark to be a nice freindly open type of person , felt a bit guilty really as it was the 1 st one i had seriously looked at and I was erring towards a GTR , so sort of new it wasnt the one for me ,

I have owned both versions.

The Sport is very similar to a GTR, the chassis is all but the same except for additional removable braces in the rear (this does make the chassis stiffer but not that with 'normal' driving you would notice) and different radiator mountings.

The bodywork is not quite as good quality (in my experience) as the GTR's and you have also got the external catches on the Sport.

The body is different, especially the rear - personally i prefer the rear of the Sport to the GTR!

The Sport is a very nice car and a good one will hold it's value well - i had mine for over 2 years and sold it for more that i paid for it.

Martin.

Thankyou for your replies. The sport is definitely more suited to what I want, it's going to be mostly used on track so the stiffer chassis is a bonus and the fact the bodywork isn't quite as refined as the gtr isn't to much of an issue.

Kevin has sent me an email regarding his sport but I think it could be out of my budget.

Are most sport/gtr components interchangeable? I'm thinking more of uprights so that should I want or need to I could upgrade the brakes for 6pot versions on the gtr? I think I read somewhere the body is not interchangeable and a few other things on the ultima website (most of which seem to be upgrade options for the gtr anyway)

i thought the body was interchangable if done as a complete unit(is lack of outside straps.

All the running gear is interchangeable, and the GTR body will fit the Sport chassis after a few minor modifications. My car started life as a Sport build. Once I had the rolling chassis it was collected by the factory, modified and returned with the GTR body pre-fitted (in fact my car is the one on the factory web site where they demonstrate fitting the body) On close inspection my GTR is indistinguishable from a "genuine" GTR apart from a couple of redundant brackets at the rear where the Sport spoiler would attach.

And if by magic one appears in the classifieds (albeit in Holland), looks like a track day car just needs a bit of tidying up.

I'm pretty sure that was the one for sale only 2 weeks ago for £19500, it then went on eBay and the starting bid was about £15000 with no bids on so if a deal was done it's a bit cheeky just sticking £5k straight on??

I suppose that's business but I don't think I could bring myself to buying it knowing I could have had it £5k cheaper!
