Bric a Brac boat

Sorry, it's a ridiculous stunt when the money could be much better used elsewhere.

Why? What for? What's the point? Did the Arts Council say 'We need a stunt, let's throw £500K at some boatbuilders?' or did the two guys cook it up and approach the Arts Council?

The two artists who thought it up, the designer, an olympic sailor, and four boat builders. That's more than two Guys.
I agree it's a lot of money though, 62k each for a years work. But take out of that the cost of materials and the premises to build it, and consider it's not a production boat popped out of a mould.
That's why boats are expensive.

Well I never thought I'd see the words "West System" in the Daily Wail (even if quoted out of context). Sod the arty bks, that's actually a really nice looking sportsboat. I hope they have plenty fenders though!
