Hello everyone,

Just to let you know that I have finally completed an enormous update to the A400MOD website.

In addition to telling the story of my own car (Tickford Build 002), the site now contains a whole load of information about the marque in general.

The url is http://www.A400MOD.com

Hope you enjoy it!

Best regards,

Adrian Dening, Somerset

Thanks for the kind comments - really appreciate it.

I've tried to make sure everything is 100% accurate by cross-referencing all the facts - I was amazed how many different (and inaccurate) stories were out there!

Still have loads to add to the site, but I'm going to have a break as my scanner has repetitive strain injury at the moment!

Best regards,

Adrian

Thanks for sharing, being a 80s Ford nut i really enjoyed it, never a great fan of the styling or the interior boxedin but appreciate what they are today, a rare, iconic, classic Ford. I will keep a look out for yours at shows later in the year when i recommission my XR4i over the next few months.
Just a quick question, Did Tickford buy 100 2.8i`s as a job lot in 83/84 and store them, or did they bring them in when they got an order?

Certainly didn't do them to order as they struggled to sell them and the final few (4 or 5) were sold off unconverted.

Hopefully I will get to some shows later this year.

In answer to your question........Tickford definitely used to buy the cars in as needed and didn't officially keep a stock of them. But, that doesn't explain why they sold off up to 10 unconverted cars around 1984 during the production run and then the final 15 unconverted cars at the end in 1987. General opinion is that when they found out for definite that the Capri was finishing, they bought a small stock at that point and got stuck with it.

I also think that they may have bought a small quantity in the early days as initially they converted and sold the cars at quite a rate....and then when sales started to slow a bit, they panicked and sold their surplus.

It's one of the many bits of Tickford Capri history that is still vague.

Best regards,

Adrian
