910 Engine bearings?

Anyone know where these can be sourced at a reasonable price?
Does anyone know the original manufacturer and if so do they have a web site?
Regards Mike
Mike,
I'm not sure what you mean by a reasonable price. I paid $59.50 for the Rod Bearing set and $128.00 for the Main Bearing set (Standard) from JAE which I didn't think was too bad.
However, before ordering, you really need to size the crank journals with a Micrometer (after any polishing or machining) to be sure you don't have to go to oversized bearings (can't just assume standard size). They are available in 0.010", 0.020" and 0.030" over and these do get spendy, from the smallest oversize to the largest. Probably because this is a very limited market. I was lucky in that my crank was still well in the range of the standard sizes. Hope this helps. Happy Motoring! ...Jim'85TE

Hi Jim,
It is within the std tolerance, the original manufacturer is Vandevell but it appears they will only sell through Lotus the 910 spec bearings. Your bearings sound very reasonably priced as I am looking at nearly £200 + vat in the UK. I dont think SJ will be any cheaper than QED unfortunatly. Who are JAE? they sound interesting.
Regards Mike

Mike,
JAE is an 'Indy' Lotus parts supplier. It is owned by a couple of guys, Jeff Robinson and his partner Jay, both ex-pat South Africans I believe. Jeff is Lotus trained and originally worked for Lotus USA as an engine rebuilder for warranty engines in the '70's.
Later, he worked a number of years for Dave Bean Engineering until DBE decided to relocate from Northern California to South Central California. Jeff and Jay decided not to relocate and so started their own Lotus parts supply company. In addition to providing Lotus OEM parts, they have also worked with several aftermarket manufacturers to produce proprietary replacement and upgrade parts such as their own set of forged alloy pistons which they contracted JE Pistons to produce.
They are essentially a two-man operation, but with a very loyal following. In additon to supplying parts, they readily offer advise on repairs and even lend (on deposit), some necessary tools.
They have a website, but have never really gotten around to finishing it. They are that busy. Still, it would provide you with all the necessary contact info. Tell Jeff I said "Hi"! Contact them at:
