BMW 3 series - is this even posible ?

Just seen a BMW 3 series saloon on a 55 plate slipping and sliding around a roundabot near me, whilst its a little slippy this morning the car was sliding all over the place, far more than i would have expected given the low speed and conditions.
However as i watched i am almost sure that al least one of the rear wheels seemed to be out of alingment with the body, almost as if it was steering the car. I know the car doesnt have rear wheel sterring but is it possible some kind of suspension fault could cause the rear offside wheel to move around in this fashion?? or were my eyes just deceiving me?
