Tell your car-related annoying neighbours stories
Discussion
What issues have you encountered with your neighbours when it comes to cars?
The neighbouring house to ours is rented out and the tenants change more often than you or I change our tax disk. Currently it is empty, but I am wondering what the next lot will have in store for us? That house has a single garage and a private space for one car in front of it.
The last tenants had 2 cars. They never once put either of the cars in the garage, but used to park the second car either along or on our verge. They even claimed to have had one of the cars broken into and thousands of pounds worth of jewels stolen from it. They had 3 annoyingly loud dogs, who would bark as soon as I stepped outside of the house. Curiously these dogs were oblivious to the theft and no sign of any breaking and entry was found.
A former couple also had two cars: they too were averse to parking in their garage and occasionally parked in front of our garage! One day my wife reversed into one of their cars that they had irresponsibly parked in front of another neighbour's house. My wife's fault of course, but had they parked considerately it would never have happened.
So PH'ers use this opportunity to have an anonymous pop at your neighbours. It might make you feel better, even if it doesn't change anything.

My neighbour passed his test about 5 years ago or so, at the ripe old age of 50. I don't know if it's due to his age which hampers his learning but he's had the same car for those few years and still does not understand clutch control.
We often hear a car redlining outside and a quick look out of the window confirms that he is trying to reverse into his drive without actually releasing the clutch pedal. His driveway is totally flat, wide (probably almost two car widths) and very easy to get into.

When I lived in South London, I used to leave for work at 6:30am in the TVR 350i. I used to manoevre out of wherever I was parked on tickover only, only using some revs when I got to the end of the street. One day a busy body neighbour came banging on my door, telling me my car was illegal because of the noise. I pointed out to her it was taxed, mot'd and insured, and was completely legal, but she wouldn't have it. From that day forward I gave up driving down the street on tickover only.

Whilst I empathise with your plight, surely the responsibility lies with your Wife? she did after all reverse into a stationary vehicle. One family that lived next door to me seemed to believe they owned the space outside their house and would complain if I or anyone else parked there. They even went down the route of placing cones in the space (that mysteriously used to end up thrown back in their garden before I parked there).
In the end when my girlfriend at the time moved in I arranged for her to leave her shed of a BX (which she hardly ever used) in the space just to annoy the

My neighbours have also complained about my TVR, to be kind I now add track silencers to reverse into the garage. Perhaps I should have ignored it and stood my ground, but I thought it was fair seeing as my unsilenced car is rather anti social. Looks crap though.

That's what his wife said.
Too true. Cost me getting on for a grand to sort that out (didn't want to lose NCB). Our car just a corner bumper scratch and chips-away tidy up. Neighbour's car door caved in and B-pillar damage.
Still, made the neighbours think twice about parking there again!
Our neighbours are generaslly ok. The problem is that they havnt got a clue how to park a car. Their son is the worst who comes up to the house a lot. Its hard to describe really how he is bad but I'll give it a shot.
There is joint parking out the front of our house shared by the neighbours and us. Plenty of space (we've had space for 20 or so cars here at one time). Usually when you park here you would just drive straight ahead to the end of the drive and leave your car there (Its a big circular drive pretty much). Except my neighbours son will just pootle up the track to our houses, park his Mercedes right in the middle so no-one can get out easily and just leave it there for hours. We all leave our cars at the side so we arent blocking anyone in and we're out of the way. He just lands...Literally
Mind you, I wouldnt like to buy a car of either of the neighbours. My actual neighbours bought a new shape vectra a few years ago when it was approx 2 yrs old. It will in good condition. Now there is wither a bump, scrape or scrtatch on pretty much every panel. Same goes for their son in the Merc, some trim fell off, didnt bother replacing it, its now rusted.
I could b

Same with my neighbour when I was renting and had a Chimaera, used to moan because I would let it idle for a minute or two before going anywhere (needed to heat it up in Winter) and also moaned that I parked on the public road that her son likes to park on when he came to visit once a week. Insisting that I should park many roads away. I didn't
I've lived here for 7 years, in that time there have been three different people in the house next door, all of them have damaged one of my cars with one of theirs. The driveway our houses share is to blame mainly but all the same they have the easier side to get on and off.
- 1 - Rolled a RAV4 into the rear 1/4 of my car while it was parked on the drive.
- 2 - Opened door into a car that had just had every blemish removed (at great expense) - refused to admit to it despite the car not being used at all since the work was done and despite CCTV showing him do it and measurements of dent vs corner of his door matching.
Had he simply owned up and apologised I would have let it go, because he was a liar and generally a bit of a knob I took him to court via his insurance company and got the dent he made repaired. Prior to this I'd been to see him with the invoice for the work to avoid this approach but he still refused to admit he'd caused the damage.
- 3 - New neighbour scraped the bumper of one of my cars when reversing off the drive for one of the first times since moving in. Came to the door and was very upset, offered to pay whatever it cost to repair etc but as they were so nice about it I wouldn't let them. Polished most of the damage out myself and decided it would help balance out how I'd been so relentless with #2.

Clearly seen that he'd damaged it too. What a tosser. - 1 - Rolled a RAV4 into the rear 1/4 of my car while it was parked on the drive.

I've got an allocated space outside my flat. Had the rear corner crushed by a removals van:
Also had the rear bumper scratched along almost it's whole length by my neighbour's idiot girlfriend. Twice.
Plus people use the gap between mine and my neighbour's car as a cut through because they are too lazy to walk 10 extra feet and use the path. Lazy
s drag their shopping/handbags down the side of my car all the time. On the plus side, I've got pretty handy with car polish Oh and also I have a d
head chav neighbour with an em free innit, constantly leaking oil all over the place. El knobbo.Garlick said:
