A tricky question

Presumably at 23 you'd pay rather a lot of money to the insurance man to sit behind some 80's Jap plastic, albeit capable plastic?
Out of the two I'd go Volvo of some description all the way for 5-ness, the flying wardrobe factor and moon mile potential. Then a bit from wages 2+ for something which likes corners.

written buy a true Impreza owner / fanboy.
It has more cred than some old phart in a volvo.I have had three Imprezas, Never again! get the Volvo, loads more fun!
Having owned both... and having 1500 notes to burn... For me its gotta be the Volvo
I have owned an 855 T5, S50 T5 (ex police) and an Impreza Turbo 2000.
You cant argue with the swede's build quality and the amount of luxuries you will get especially if you can find an 850 T5 GLT. Mine was an automatic and you can waft around in comfort and cruise around to your hearts content. And when the need arises you can stick that right pedal to the floor and hear the 5 cylinder lump burst into life and catapult you forward. You'll get a better return on your fuel too and tbh, its one of the best sleeper cars you can get. The look on peoples faces when a big old bus powers off the lights is amazing.
But then you have the burble of a flat 4 engine that comes in the impreza, I miss the noise.

Yup. Most people love young men in Imprezas.
It has more cred than some old phart in a volvo.Impreza, but keep it clean & original- no stick on tat.

Like that but bin the rep graphics, roof scoop & hideous exhaust
I think they're a really nice car.
I do dream of having a 90s rally rep garage with Escort Cosworth, Series Mcrae Impreza and a Delta Evolution, Evo 6 Mak.

Thanks guys, I can see there are very good for and against cases for each!
As for insurance..... didnt it used to go down appreciably when one turned 21? Oh well, I still have 3 years to save up some money for it to go with my first paycheck :P
It goes down appreciably but, in the case of the Impreza, it goes down from a very large number to a large number. I'm the wrong side of 30, keep my car in a very safe postcode and have no points but insurance on that wagon posted earlier is still a grand.
