Has anyone got experience of the aftermarket sat nav that BMW dealers will fit on the dash of the 1 series models? Roughly going for £490 fitted, sits on the dash and is a Nuvi or Garmin device I think with integrated bluetooth (but BMW branded). Thinking about getting this fitted to a 1 series I am buying.

We use a TomTom 1005 which grips to the windscreen excellently and provides bluetooth calling via the TomTom. Doesn't use the steering wheel controls but far cheaper than the BMW alternative.

Got to ask yourself how much the convenience is worth.

Totally agree. YMMV. Works for me as I can put the Tomtom in the other car as well. Doesn't work quite as well if the unit is built in! wink

Decided to go for it. Will be getting it fitted by Sytner on Friday. Like the idea of having no cables, sat nav and phone calls integrated into the car's speakers. Basically it is a Garmin unit (so can be used elsewhere) but the real benefit is the integration with the car. Yes it is a bit costly for what it is, but what isn't in this country these days.

Please post up with pictures and impressions post install. I'd be interested to see how it turns out.
