Hello peeps,

Have a free day tomorrow, so wanted to combine a nice drive (for me) with a good pub lunch (for her!).

Usual destination for this is The Cricketers in Clavering (Essex / Herts border), but they're fully booked for lunch.

Live in SE London so best roads out of The Big Smoke are the A2/M2, A20/M20, A13 or M11. Getting across to the M23/3/4/40 is just too much of an arse.

Any recommendations of route and/or pub/restaurant greatly appreciated smile

Our usual haunt is the Woodman at Ide Hill

Sadly can't meet you tomorrow as I am being dragged round the countryside by huskys . (Eagle Heights). The pub does do very good food and is nice run out.

Later in the year we will prob have some SE Astoneers meets at the Woodman.

Have you been to Mersea?

Couple of cracking places for seafood there, walk on the beach, some decent roads inland on the way...

Circumstances (read: epic hangover) have conspired to thwart today's plan frown

Thanks for the above recommendations guys - all duly noted and we'll work our way round them all.

Di - The Woodman looks lovely. Do let us know next time you head there and we'll try to join.

Round the M25, Bell Common tunnel, A1 to Hatfield (Hatfield tunnel). Turn around at the next roundabout and then back the way you came. Off at St Albans and then head to Wheathampstead and the Wicked Lady.

www.thewickedladypub.co.uk

Tunnel runs and motorway or you can run along the backroads that the M25 replaced....
