Got an Audi in Greater Manchester?

Seems there is a gang targeting this brand...

Grim reading, not limited to Audi's though. My Dad's recently retired GMP and apparently it's not a a new thing either, it's one of the reasons the north west is so dire for insurance costs. Let's hope the BiB are all over it.

This gang better watch out, one of these days they are going to pick a fight with Declan and it'll be over for them.

Awful stuff, can't believe the police don't already have them considering all the CCTV and such around these days.

Eh, have I missed a good thread?

Anyway, there used to be a gang that specialised in stealing Saabs in Manchester. Maybe they've gone up market.

Given how many people live in the Manchester area, the chances of being a victim are fairly small ....especially if you drive a mid-range Ford as I do.

To be fair, though, I have heard of a few friends having Audis stolen around the area over the years. Are they being stolen for parts? They are so common I can't imagine that they'd have much cachet amongst the light-fingered community.

there was a few cars in the badly modified car thread that had been miraculously upgraded with a stream of RS parts, most will go abroad if its organised i would imagine

Bear in mind that ultimately they'll take anything it's just that they target 'prestige' cars. We had a valeter at work challenged for the keys of a Peugeot 107. Probably not much worse than most major cities but the insurance ratings for Manchester, Bolton, Oldham and surrounding postcodes are a joke.

Bolton postcode area is GREAT!!1!111 for expensive motor insurance quotes frown. When I moved from just south of Bury town centre to the northern edge of Bolton - both are Bolton postcodes - in 2007, my insurance went UP by 20%.

Mind you, in my 5 years in Bolton (and this is a 'posh' desirable area to live in!) I've had 2 cars vandalised outside the house (panels kicked in, deep scratches to the metal and so on but not claimed for nor declared), a car was stolen from next door's drive last summer, 2 houses just up the road were burgled last spring, there have been 2 cars 'stolen while left running to warm up on winter mornings' on my road (that's 100 houses approx) in the last 4 years. There are regular (like, weekly) accidents on the main road, usually further up the village and on the tops on the way to Blackburn. A chap down the road is currently in prison for conspiracy to commit motor insurance fraud (£31,500-worth, which earned him an 18 month sentence) rolleyes .

Back in Bury, from 1997 to 2007 I'm aware of a neighbour's car being "paint-strippered" by an angry ex, one old Fiesta being broken-into by having the window frame bent back and another one having the quarterlight smashed and some overalls stolen. There was also an armed raid (an illegal one, not the feds wink ) on next door but two in 2002. (We also had a drug dealer lived opposite until TAG turned up at 6AM one sunny morning in 2004 hehe ). But the main road was as bad for regular accidents.

Bolton postcode area also has two of the top ten "crash for cash" hotspots, which probably doesn't help!

Happy days ! smile

He was hit over the head by one of three men who demanded his car keys. But the motorist threw the keys into the nearby canal the gang made off with only the his bags and a few other personal items instead.

Impressive, he saved his car despite the possible risk to his life. I am pretty sure I wouldn't have the quick thinking or the bottle to pull that off if I was in his position.

They won't get far. They will have understeered into the barrier at the first sliproad on the M60 having not had enough feedback through the vague steering.
