I've owned my '97 993 Targa for a couple of years now.

The car is totally standard except the car stereo - which ideally I'd like to replace.

Does anyone know which car stereo units would have been offered as standard or as options on this car back in '97?

I'd be grateful for any info on makes and model numbers.

Thanks

Victor

When I PDI'd them, RHD 993's came with DIN wiring and a stereo blank, we had a deal with Sony and fitted their head units. The Blaupunkt or Becker units used in early 986's go in but the angle of the 993 dash makes visibility of the LCD screen poor. A Becker Nav/Traffic-pro would be a nice choice and was an optional extra for the last year of 993's (with a body cloured, externally mounted GPS aerial wink ). Only saw one (a pastel yellow 2S which also had a rear wash/wipe option!!)

My fave early unit was the Porsche CD-10......ahhhhh, 1989.........

The Porsche classic pro is a good replacement, fitted one a few week's back and fits the interior remarkably well and has all the modern functions you would expect from a new unit. Also keeps the car in-line with being "original" if your into that.... biggrin
