Now you come to mention it I did something similar with the two lower screws only I think I used a 10 mm Allen key and through the gap between chassis and diff used a suitably sized spanner to turn it. I'll know soon as I'm just about to drop my diff to get it rebuilt.I like the look of those special spanners Ant, I might have to get myself some.

I agree with Ant, these spanners are just the ticket for the rear locknuts on the front mounts, I got a cracking set off eBay for a £10. When I removed the M12 10mm hex screws from the front I supported the diff on a trolley jack, removed the two long side mount bolts, then jacked up the front of the diff slightly to give me some room, managed to get a short 10mm hex bit in a 10mm socket with slimline ratchet, just a tap with a mallet released the screws. PeteTo release the top locknuts with the body on I use on of these.....
