Came across this today - 1989 BMW 750iL V12 with Only 3,000 Miles but an Asking Price of... $48k (approx 31K GBP)!!

Must admit I love seeing rarities like this, but would anyone really pay that much for a mint 3k 23year old beemer?!

With the state of the engine bay...it's travelled more than 3,000 miles.

Is there supposed to be a BMW badge on the steering wheel?

No. They weren't fitted at that point in time (the time when airbags were introduced) as it was thought they'd harm the driver in an accident.

Car looks expensive to me. Love the wheels though. Colour scheme isn't too bad either. I'm sure you could persude a BMW collector to part with £10,000. Not three times that amount however.

Just to add, only the ones without airbags did have badges on the steering wheel, which is probably what you're thinking of.

(Edited to remove an incorrect fact...)

Superb knowledge chaps, now you say it I've noticed plenty without badges before. Avoiding having a reversed BMW badge forever stamped on your forehead makes sense.

dunno, looks like some sort of builder related dust, probably the whole car was covered in it before it was cleaned.

Jesus! Even asking a third of that price for that is pushing it. Was it owned by someone famous?

Why have a car like that and not drive it?

Where is it? Certainly doesn't look like the UK to me, more like some warm tropical island where import duty tax on cars is so massive that older cars can still command huge prices.

Someone told me that a Land Cruiser Colorado in Pakistan and India went for over £30K! Even humble W203 C-Class Mercedes were £20k upwards (now) and some £60k new!

Lovely car, but way over priced.

There was one of these parked by the road on my way to work last year going for about £2k. Wish I'd bought it. Had a few more miles than this though.

It's just a little dusty. Look how clean the plastic is on the tank for the radiator water. There's no water line stains from the anti-freeze that you see on engines that have done a fair few miles.

a barge like that isn't the kind of car you'd pay big money for

e30 m3, m1, z3 m coupe, z1 etc - all sports cars that you would pay $$ for a minter.

a big barge? what would you use it for? hoons? no. trackdays? no. carting the family around? probably not.

a lovely car, but it won't go for big money, unless perhaps you are of the 'old money' variety and you want something like that but i just can't see it.

That's going to need a lot of work doing with that lack of use.

New water pump, tyres, everything rubber replacing and more.

Quite cool though.

BMW makes an unattractive wheel shocker!

Not suprising they are so rare.
