Two uniformed colleagues walking along the side of the River Thames at Henley Regatta on Sunday by the bridge were rugby tackled into the river by a man who had come out of the pub as they walked past for a £100 bet with his mates .

Would you do something as brave as this for £100?

He did get captured by the way and has been charged with assault and criminal damage!

Common sense doesn't necessarily come into play after a good Leo Sayer...

Absolutely, though I wouldnt have rugby tackled, I would have pushed very hard and ran for my life!

Was it criminal damage to the river?;} Or causing uniform to shrink whilst being worn?

Seriously - he must have been mad! Currents and undertow in that river - surprised it is just assault!

Very dangerous thing to do! Definitely not a "brave" thing to do! "Brave" means jumping in to save you if you fall in!

Hope he gets just deserts!

Damage was to 2 mobile phones which went 'Zap' in the water and for the cleaning bill for the uniforms

Where would the sympathies lie if the two BIB were holding a radar gun that got damaged in the river.

No offence to the BiB's involved but gotta laugh...I'm sure their colleagues did...maybe even you had a little smile Gone
Wouldn't have taken the challenge myself but either the guy has balls...or was so pissed he would equally have tried to rugby tackle the London to Birmingham Express
Off topic, but as a new member and it appears your opinions carry a lot of respect here Gone, I was wondering what your thoughts were on being recorded with VASCAR at an illegal speed on amotorway for 1.2 miles, but being followed for a total of 5 miles before being pulled over just before entering another county having recorded a higher speed, no mention of other readings inbetween. Don't get me wrong, a fair cop at both speeds but not a fair tactic in my book.

What do you think was the unfair tactic about the way you were caught? Was it the fact they followed you for 5 miles or the fact they pulled you just before a county boundary?

Ok sorry...it was the fact they had me after the first 1.2 miles (first reading 118mph) but followed me for a total of 5 miles gaining a higher reading. I assume they took others and used the highest, don't know. As I say it was a fair cop...so no complaints on being pulled...but I see allowing me to continue as allowing a more serious offence to be committed i.e. higher speed. Dangerous Driving was mentioned but not pursued. As I uderstand it I was close to being liable for presecution for that on speed alone. I'm not proud of it and had changed my ways by the time the magistrates gave me a few months to ponder it while I use public transport. In retrospect I don't think it was that close to the county border but as I say my point was allowing me to continue to commit a more serious offence when I think they should have pulled me after the first reading.
