Finally got round to getting a decent car, i turned 21 and decided it was time to get shot of the 1.2 Clio and move on. I looked at Corsa VXR's and Fiesta ST's but something attracted me to the 197. I called the insurance and they were ok with it £850 later.
The search began for the right car. I went and saw a couple of Silver 197's but they were either sold or not a great spec. I started to get sick of the way dealers would treat me being so young looked for as they called them a high performance car. I hated being called young man and lad and nearly gave up after a dealer of Prestige Cars in Basingstoke pissed me right off. Then i found the perfect car on autotrader, unlike all the others i had seen of a similar spec this was the right price the right mileage, a good spec and the first to be close to me. After going down for an initial look i found the dealer a joy to do business with and treated me with respect unlike the mentioned dealer in Basingstoke. I went back a few days later with the old man and his mate whos a mechanic and they also gave it the nod. The old mans not interested in cars and isnt very happy with the engine size but after enough badgering he gave in.
The spec is Albi blue, Xenons, climate control, cruise control, rear tinted glass and keyless entry. So far its been a joy to drive and own, economy isnt too much of a worry 24mpg so far. Its ok as i do a 15 mile round trip to work in heavy town traffic in rush hour but who cares its fun at least.

nice car pal. I hope you went back to the Basingstoke dealer, and have told them how you were treated. Would be a good feeling to park your new ride outside, and speak to the manager telling him why he lost the sale.
Well it was only a small garage, the owner was the bloke I dealt with. He was a t
t don't know why anyone would buy a car off a man wearing an umbro top and dirty jeans. He was a joker offered me silly money as part ex, even renault directly offered me over double what he did. I wouldn't waste my time telling him how useless he was, I don't know how his business is still running if he treats and speaks to everyone like he did to me.I know how you feel, OP. I went to look at an EP3 Type R and the salesman refused to even answer my questions about the car, just wouldn't even talk to me. At Christmas I couldn't get served for spray de-icer because I didn't have ID and apparently I looked too young...

Don't feel bad - I got asked for ID to buy a packet of forks (as in eat your dinner forks). I'm 33 years old. I remember I used to hate getting ID'd, now I bloody love it!I'm 26, you daft b

Looks lovely mate. get yourself over to cliosport.net if your not already, its an awesome forum, massive knowledge and good banter over there.
I know what you mean about dealers thinking your taking the p**s though. I'm 21 now and looking for a Clio 182 and all I ever get is you'll struggle to insure it, some even after me telling them I have got a quote and I used to have a Clio 172 when I was 19.

OP, who are you insured with and James, who are your quotes with?
