Bizarrely, the radio in my E46 M3 has got stuck on full volume!

I drove it yesterday with the CD changer playing at standard volume when I turned off the engine. When I started it later on, it scared the hell out of me - it was like a scene from James Bond or something!

I have tried turning the volume down (and up), switched on and off several times, switching between CD and Radio etc - all without success.

Any suggestions before I take it into the dealer?

Thanks

Take the fuse out, then put it back in.

In fact, are believe two fuses are relevant. Try 7 and 41

Had this once before on an old e46 years ago, something to do with the button on the radio not being used for volume as people use the wheel mounted control so the on off button gets wonky. Use the volume control more often on the radio and it went away on mine though for a few $ you can get a new on off volume knob for the radio which is the permanent fix.

Thanks all!!

What a ridiculously easy free fix - 30 seconds of rapid up/down twisting with the stereo turned off. Then, hey presto.

Many thanks! There certainly are some bizarre 'known issues' out there...
