You in the silver S-class - Eastbound between Slough and Langley at approx 8.30am on the M4, undertaking at 70mph+ in the 50mph average speed zone, cutting in front of me with inches to spare between myself and the car in front, then slamming on your brakes. You sir were clearly indulging in acts of self abuse whilst at the wheel and should be banned from driving immediately. Rant over. Had to get that of my chest.

you f*ck wit!!

If he managed to undertake/use lane 1 at 70mph why weren't you using lane one in the first place?

I smell MLM.

In average speed sections you are advised not to change lane.

Why not change lanes if they are empty who is it going to affect?

I dunno, just recounting the signs and gantry information I've seen when driving through avg speed zones in an attempt to demonstrate the OP may not be an MLM.

If the guy cut in front of the OP then it would indicate that that was the only space available and that either the inside lane was moving more slowly or that there was heavy traffic in both lanes.

Either way then only mistake the OP made was posting here allowing the masses to subjugate him to the usual PH crap.

Similar to people who believe that red men on pedestrian crossings mean walk across the traffic, even though the green light has been showing for a good few seconds.

Still an MLM. Speedo 50 = less than 50. There will be others trying to pass at a true 50.

Assumptions, you don't know if he was referring to GPS speedo. Plus as I said, if advised not to change lane then you can hardly criticise him for it.

Oh wait you can, because arbitrary contrariness is de-rigeur on PH these days. smile

OP, do yourself a favour, don't post again, the PH masses will ream you even if you're in the right such is the mood here recently.

I imagine that would be more local to a particular section of road which is narrow or crossing carriageways - apart from this the normal rules of the road apply in avg speed zones - there's nothing special about them, the traffic should move to the left after overtaking.

I've never seen that distinction made when in an average speed section. The signs just say "avoid changing lanes", but as this is PH I simply cannot be correct! It's just not possible!

Calm down, dear, he's only wrong...hehe

You won't get done for an average under 57. I set the cruise to 54 on the GPS and MLMs frequently hold me up when their lane is empty ahead. In a 17 mile stretch of roadworks, it makes a difference. It also gets people wound up. What's the better attitude, follow this rule or use a bit of common sense that defuses frustration?

I'm as calm as a Sadu after smoking a chillum filled with hash smile

It's just a general observation on the attitude of the PH masses these days that one should automatically take the opposite position to the OP and lay into him with vigour.

And yes, valium is rather nice. wink

Would be interested to know if this is true, as the sections on the M25 and M1 dont have anything like this, but would explain why some people refuse to move out of lanes 2 or 3 to allow others to overtake.

I am in no way calling the OP a liar, just I don't use that section of the M4

Agreed, - sorry guys, will shut up now. By the way he undertook, then cut into the fast lane, doing 70 in a 50 mph average speed zone. All traffic in all lanes were doing 50mph except for him.

Occasionally there will be signs saying stay in lane or similar in some particular road works depending on numerous things. Definitely not the rule in all roadworks though & I have no idea if these signs are used in the works on the M4 at the moment.

st drivers should be made to drive mini metros, its unfortunate that if he did cause an accident, in a Merc S-Class, he'd probably come off least worst.
