What's the best rear brake discs to use, are standard XJ solid discs OK?

And where do you get the nuts from, are they special in any way?

Yes standard solid are really the only option.
Ideally you need special nuts "All-metal locking" as nylocks melt, they are quite expensive as its a imperial size, I did buy a large batch of these, so give me a shout.

If you still have the original all metal k-locks they can be re-used but if you need new ones you should be able to get them from a good bolt supplier.

You can go to vented discs, see this link:-

Yes this is true, but not sure if TVR fitted All metal ones, but every car I've seen has had ny-lock's on that have melted. also 99% of UK bolt suppliers will not have them as they are 3/8 unf. hence buying up a batch of old stock when I found some.

Not 100% sure they will fit on the wedge chassis, plus if the callipers are working 100% right, and you have the right pads, the standard ones will work very well and take a massive amount of abuse before overheating, only got close once on the racer that has standard setup (but some adding cooling) I've have over heated the rear of the 400SE, once due too much abuse on track (this took all day though) and then again due to a sticking calliper.

Get your spares here http://www.jagweb.com/classicspares/. The driveshaft nuts are jag specials. Forget the vented disks unless you want to spend excess amounts of cash on something that is a bit unnecessary IMO....

What pads do you run?? I did manage to overheat the rears on a track day! I will be adding some extra cooling before the next one but interested to know your pads.

I think I had DS2500 in the racer but now using DS3000's but you would only need the 2500's in a road car, they are expensive but worth it esp if you are tracking it. also you may want to do a re-ferb on the calipers, its quite an easy job, but if they have never been done, then they are due. you can get them from the link GV posted.

As for the nuts sorry there are 7/16 not 3/8. I don't think Jag spares do them, they supply nuts and spring washers.

These are the ones I have http://www.lasaero.com/site/part/details?part=MS21...

When I did my axle overhaul last year, I used these people, fast turn-round and all the bits I needed. I think they are over your way so you might be able to save the p&p.

I used them too for the refurb of my rear brakes. Good service and reasonably priced too.
