Which would you Buy? LR Discovery 4
Discussion
I am down sizing my fleet as although I know in PH terms you can never have too many cars I think I have too many!
So The Aston stays as does her Fiat 500. Those are non negotiable!
I am going to sell my E55 Estate and Disco 3 and buy a Disco 4.
But what would you do?
I have the choice at the moment of 2 really.
1. A Brand new in dealership XS with the New 255 BHP engine and 8 speed gearbox. But in Fiernze Red...

Or
2. A 10 month old HSE with all the toys in Stornaway grey. It has the 6 speed gearbox and slightly less powerful engine.

The price is almost the same so just down to the sensible thing to do?

If you want the newer one, I`m sure there maybe other dealers which stock them in a different colourSo The Aston stays as does her Fiat 500. Those are non negotiable!

The HSE. It's had irs initial depreciation hit and the extras make all the difference.
This is what interests me, I don't want to ship cash!Stu R said:
My money would be going on the HSE - though I must say the red one does look beautiful - brave choice given how many silver / grey ones there seem to be around.
It is one of those colours that I can't quite work out! I think I like it, although....I have the 12MY XS. IMO the HSE had nothing more that I felt justified the extra cash. The fancier leather isn't necessary with the little 'un, and I don't need five cameras to help me park. The options I wanted on the XS I would have had to add to the HSE too.
However, that said, if the spec's are right for you the HSE makes more sense as it has already taken a hit. I guess it comes down to details, and how long you plan on keeping it.

How do you find the Gear selector? Is it fiddly, or is it just a case of getting used to it?However, that said, if the spec's are right for you the HSE makes more sense as it has already taken a hit. I guess it comes down to details, and how long you plan on keeping it.
But you sound like you have the same outlook as me, I said the same things yesterday!
Get as long a warranty as possible !
Fantastic cars, but some minority of owners sometimes have problems and they can be expensive to fix.
Brother in law has had a new gearbox and several electrical gremlins over 18 months. All fixed under warranty and painless enough, and it would not stop me getting one.
But I would'nt want to own one without warranty cover I could depend on.

No problems with the selector. The last auto I owned was a RR back in 2001 so I needed to adapt anyway. I have only used the paddles once to try them out, but seem a bit unnecessary on a car like a Discovery. Not as if I'm going to track it.
