Google search problem

I've got a problem with Google.

Everytime I click the link to try to do an image search or newsgroup search. Internet explorer throws up an error has occurred and I get asked if I want to report the error. IE then shuts down and I have to restart IE. I've ran AV search but seems clear from virus. I run Windows XP home.

Any ideas?

I would also download and run AdAware from www.lavasoft.de and also CWShredder from www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html and see what they clear out.
