After having had the bonnet up at it's full limit for 2 weeks I've found one of the hinges is broken where it goes into the actual bonnet - i.e. it looks like the fibreglass must be damaged with having had the weight of the bonnet on it for so long - is this easily fixed? do I need to take to a fibreglass guy?

Same thing wrong with mine ,my fault ,left the bonnet up at a car show then a gust of wind blew it off like a kite..

I got a quote ,£450 to fix so your options are

Try to fix it with fiberglass

slide one length of rod all the way through and then clamp up with a large washer each end and a locking nut

My option is to cut a piece of sheet metal useing a template ,drill a hole in it then slide it over the excisting wobbly rod, drill holes in the small trianguler piece of metal and eather self tap or pop rivet and use some epoxy two pack glue .lock up with a large washer and nut then bolt it all to your bonnet.

It's a common problem and a pretty easy fix. Do a search on here for previous threads. My trick was to cut a hole behind the hinge so it can be easily re glassed in. Put a rubber bung in it afterwards.

I have fitted the SH QD hinges so when the bonnet needs to stay up for a while I just remove it, easier access all round as well!

No negative comments on how long it's been off in the last 12 months please smile.
