Rear Window repair & Re-Carpeting query - Bristol
Discussion
Screen, no idea. Carpets I have details of a company that supply the classic car market. i rang for a quote & they sent it the next day with samples of all the reds they do & all the piping options. There was a choice of two qualities. the cheaper seems to be identical to the carpet fitted as oe. The cost was less than half what I was quoted elsewhere. The downside is you have to fit it yourself. I'm ordering mine as soon as I get time to do the work. Email me if you want their details.
Can't help you re the rear screen but I had very faded carpets in my car. Instead of replacing them I managed to get a really good colour spray carpet dye which worked a treat and bought the carpet up like new. Really easy to use and once "set" the colour doesn't rub off or anything.
Might be worth a try? Good luck

Thanks for the advice so far - I ahve the car booked in at Webbs a week on Monday for the window ( www.tvrbodyshop.co.uk ) about 4 miles away from me so very handy as well!! but they quoted me 695+ Vat for re-carpeting so may try another option unless anyone else knows anyone cheaper.
Again, thanks for the advice so far.

Thanks ExUber Rob,
Thats the same price as Webbs, so will just drop it there, having a couple of other things done at same time, ie wing mirror painted and get them to have a look at that "flat spot" between 2-3,000rpm when engine hot, scenario. car stutters on hakf throttle
anyone else had experience of this and the outcome?

RE rough running, stuttering at half throttle, overfuelling, etc...you will see many threads on here regarding the stepper motor.
I had the very same problem with mine and did as advised by a good few PH'ers cleaned the stepper motor. It did little for me........however had the car checked by a V8 knowledgeable guy who found the piston in the stepper motor to be sticking....he got the piston moving smoothly, adjusted base idle and all seems to be well.....cost £50.00. A new stepper motor I believe is £75.00 plus fitting and adjusting.

Have found a chap who is based near Heathrow; who works for a place called Car Interiors. Ask for a guy called Gary; they replaced my windscreen after the stitching gave way. They did a great job and were very helpful picking up and delivering the car back to me, all for the princly sum of £150 all in.

i had the rear screen get pushed through while it was been washed; which was slightly annoying. rang mole valley to be told tht it would need a whole new roof as they couldn't replace the plastic; this turned out to be utter b*llocks and in fact you can replace the screen on it's own.
the company that i found was Car Interiors in Hayes, Middlesex. i dealt with a guy called Gary. They came over to pick the car up and returned it to me with a new screen for £150; really good service and nice people
