The Tuscan has been my only car for the last 4 years and never had a problem getting insured on it and normally pay around £400 for 12 months. I have no points accidents claims or convictions and 10 years no claims.. blabla

Anyway have purchased another runabout as need more room, so the Tuscan will become my second car.

I am not sure about getting insured? it appears my 10 years no claims can only be transfered to one of the cars? why is this? surely I am the one who has no claims not the car, so that puzzled me, and why is it no claims can only be transfered to one vehicle but yet a claim on any insurance policy or car will count against any motor insurance policy I have purchased? Double bloody standards if you ask me irked

Previously I drove around 4000 miles per year with the Tuscan, these days I will be doing around 2000 in the tuscan and 4000 in the runabout, if I get a joint policy say with Admiral the quote goes up to £1000+ ?

Am I missing a trick here..... ? Any advice from chaps who insure 2 cars including their Tuscan?

BTW the runabout is a small Pug 307 diesel so not exactly a sporty number!

Hi
Can you not stick the tuscan on a classic policy as no claims are not required, and use the ncb on a normal policy as that what I do with my griff and pug diesel.300 for griff and 250 for pug
Hope that's a option for you

Try Mannings or Henderson Taylor as both will 'take into account' your NCB and the fact it's a 2nd car. Should be between £300 - 400 on the Tuscan and I would guess less than £200 on the Pug using your NCB

Second Mannings as I've just switched my Tuscan to them on a classic policy for the same reason. It has to be over 10 years old though so depends when in '02 yours was registered?

I Insure 3 cars incl Tusc on a fleet policy through Heritage. It was the cheapest deal by some margin

Surprised by your Admiral quote, I'm with them with only 3 years NCB, and I'm only 28 so I expect my premium is higher than most, yet I pay less than the £1000 you've been quoted for both my cars combined (6000 miles limited policy on the Tuscan S). I've added and removed a second car from time to time, and while that one's had a separate NCB (2 years at the moment I think), it can actually be cheaper with a second car (mine's currently a Mk1 Focus) due to the Multicar discount.

When I was calling around to renew in October, Admiral were the cheapest for me by a factor of >4 - maybe due to my age. It does appear to be a bit random however, I've had vastly different quotes from Admiral just by calling a week later and talking to a different person... One thing to bear in mind is that any listed modifications will increase the quote considerably with them.

The multicar quotes depend upon the car to driverv ratio. We have 4 cars in the family (3 daily drivers plus the Tiv), but 3 drivers named, and the Admiral quote was 30% higher as they don't treat the Tiv as a classic limited mileage vehicle. If I took the Tiv off it was on 20% more expensive.

If you are one driver with 3 cars then it should be cheaper as you can only drive one at a time.

Thanks for advice chaps.

An update is it appears talking on the blower is the best way to get a cheaper insurance quote when having 2 cars.

Admiral have dropped to £672 multicar giving me 6 years NCD on the pug alongside my current 10 years on the Tiv. Voluntry excess on the tiv is 500 plus excess of 350 so £850 yikes

Tried Heritage but no go on a fleet unless I have 3 cars.... now thats just greedy wink

MSM (who I am currently with) are re-quoting.

Because it is under 10 years old, no go on classic although next year will be different.

Mannings tomorrow I think.... bloody time consuming all this quoting lark, and time is difficult to find in the daytime.
