Right chaps i need some help sourcing parts. Bear with me as i have no mechanical knowledge, my mechanic is asking for an alternator belt tensioner/roller/pulley. he only needs the roller but is unsure if it comes as a package. next i need an idler pulley which is nearside of engine. The car is an 96 500. Thanks in advance, Gary smile

Hi,

For your tensioner try "Clever Trevor" - if you don't have air conditioning then it's their part number E2213 - not too bad at a smidgin over £42. (The Aircon version is part number P0136 and is about £70)

The nearside idler isn't available as a complete unit but if the mounting plate is unbolted (your mechanic will need to remove the pulley from its shaft to gain access to the mounting bolts then the mounting plate can be removed very easily, the old bearing pressed out and a replacement pressed back in.

When mine went (quite spectacularly) I simply ordered up 1 x 33052RS Budget Rubber Sealed Double Row Angular Contact Ball Bearing 25x62x25.4mm from Simplybearings.co.uk and it was in my hand next day for a little over £30. All I would say is order a metal sealed unit rather than rubber sealed as the one that came off was actually metal sealed but my rubber sealed one is holding up just fine after a year of use. biggrin
