cheap run about, Astra gsi turbo ?
Discussion
Sold the Boxster,S1 RS turbo is stripped and in bits,Mk2 Astra GTE and 309 GTI are in hibernation. Was looking at a Monaro or TVR but they will take a bit of looking around. Time is short as i'm in london for 4 weeks then Africa for 2 weeks. So need a car to dodge about in and leave in long stay car parks for next 4-6 months. Looking at a Astra GSI turbo tomorrow for £2800 with 86k on it,FSH and a new turbo fitted at x-mass. They look to be holding there value just now. Given the low price i'm getting this for, looks a sound buy for a 6 month runner ?
Oh and yes its blue!

The Z20LET engines are decent like (had one in the VXT), however some are prone to leaking from the rocker cover gasket as the rocker cover is plastic. Have a close look at this before buying.
Other than that they're pretty decent, apart from being understeery due to the wide front tyres they seem to get an OK review.

I had one of these back in around 2003, when they came out.
I enjoyed it - my first (only, so far) Turbo car.
It was pretty quick, reliable, well kitted and I enjoyed it.
They seem to be pretty tuneable so if the one you are looking at is sound you might well get your cash back selling onto someone who wants to mod?
(BTW, Arden Blue cars have blue seatbelts. My son still remembers these as cool, 7 years after I traded it. I bet no other car has blue seatbelts!!)
