Oh how surprised am I to find that the topic I started earlier about Henry trading up his boat has been deleted.

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3560688.htm

Why would this be? Henry is happy enough to advertise his boat and link it to his business on here so why should it be removed? I'm merely flagging up that not all dealers are struggling like the big dealerships who don't offer a decent personal service.

Will this post be removed to by the ridiculous censorship that seems to be sweeping across PH lately?

So what point are you trying to make?

All credit to the fellow, he runs a well respected business and enjoys the rewards. It's not really newsworthy.

I think our Henry must work hard. Earns good money doing a good job.

Don't think Henry give a hoot about people knowing he's doing well.

I guess other people do.

That's my point, he has done well through having a different approach to dealing with people. By offering good advice to potential customers rather than just trying to sell any car to any one it has allowed him to do well.

If only others could learn from this that they don't have to be greedy and cut corners to be successful; look after your customers and you can still do well!

I would imagine that alot of the ones who are struggling now are the ones who don't tailor their approach to each customer!

My point is I don't see why the post was removed as he should be proud that his mannner to each customer has paid off and made him so successful.

It may well not be through the car dealing Henry can afford these things.

If it is, hats off to the boy, that's impressive.

And no, i'm not suggesting he deals in narcotics or anything dodgy purely that it is probably not a reflection on how well a dealership is or isn't doing.

Hi there.

Not sure why your post was deleted.

Yes, I am in the process of trying to sell my boat at the moment with a view to changing it for something a little bigger. I never come on here and moan, others seem to do that for me smile Our limitation at the moment is getting hold of stock not selling cars.

I think I've said before on here that it's a weird market at the moment. Usually when stock is tight prices go up so you can maximise revenue from each car that you do have available. What's happening at the moment is the used Porsche market is massively price sensitive. If you tried to put the prices up you'd stop selling. Similarly when buying stock in you have to give all the money, so our job of finding some middle ground is a bit tough, but that's the way it is so you just get on and deal with it.

I have never been embarrassed by earning a living. I sleep very easily at night.

During the recession whilst some people have apparently given up or seen the situation as a chance to bail out whilst saving face I've invested a lot of time and money in 911virgin, I've set up a completely new business venture, CCTV42, I've employed more staff and I'm in the throws of looking to invest in some more commercial property. Please don't see that as arrogance, I'm not saying there haven't been victims. There have. But for Christ's sake if you're not a victim don't give up. Keep running.

I had a chance to upgrade the boat at the 2009 Southampton boat show. It was a stunning deal. I was told there would never be a better opportunity and the chap wasn't lying. I had the money sitting in the bank but I turned it down. I did so because I was worried that I would need the money to support my business and the people who work with me. I get great pleasure from being on the boat and it keeps us close as a family but ultimately its only a boat and not worth risking your business and other people's future over. Financially no one employed by me has suffered a penny over the past few years. I had a while when I didn't earn a fortune but that's the way it goes at the pointy end sometimes.

I'm happy that its safe to change the boat now. That's a good thing smile

No one person on here is paying for the new boat. Lots of people over the past 25 years of grafting are paying a little bit.

It may be that Henry doesn't own the boat (it's only available because the owner is trading up) and Henry is just selling it.

If it is Henry's so what?

Some people like to keep their personal life personal. Others are rather more flash and brash. Each to their own.

He earns his money and spends it how he likes. Good luck to him!

Yes I noticed my tongue in cheek comment about having to have somewhere to stuff your cash had vanished .... but I bought my car from Henry's team (the uber dilligent and straight talking Tom) back in November and I'm still thrilled with it and the level of professionalism shown by 911 Virgin. Of course I knew they were in business to make a profit - but I now think I would like my name engraved on the new propellors .... wink

I have bought and sold through Henry and he has seen me well. I've met a few people who have raced against him and they say is a nice chap - always a compliment when those you are competing against have positive things to say.

Henry & Tom helped me make the right choice of cars on a few of occasions - even when I didn't get one of my porkers from them! It is good to see people that work hard being rewarded.

In fact I'm hoping to be putting some busines in Henry's direction in the very near future!!!

Running several different business ventures. They are clearly doing well. Good luck to you.

If they provide enough funds to enjoy some luxuries, then why not. No need to justify anything.

Businesses run to make profit. No surprises there.

It's a lovely thing Henry (I've always liked boats - never owned one though). Maybe you could post up pictures of the new one when you get it?
