Selling a LHD car

A mate owns a newish Ford S-Max diesel where he lives in Germany - German registered, LHD etc.
He's returning permanently to the UK next month. Would it be better to sell the car in Germany first, or do LHD cars fetch decent money back here? Obviously it would be more convenient to bring it back.
I only ask as another pal who lives in France came back to the UK to buy an uter snotter of an old 405 diesel last summer. He reckoned the £450 it cost him would have been trebled in France, and looking at French Ebay he's probably right.
Anyone know the score?

Strangely, I live in France and researched the cost of cars 2nd hand. You can get them in the UK from specialised dealers but their prices are higher than in the respective country. The downside is that probably they'll offer you far less since it is a captive market. Pricers in Germany are at least 10% lower than in France by the way.
Many moons ago (20 years!) I was in the same position with a German registered LHD BMW 2002. I advertised it for sale in the newspaper and got no interest at all until the day before my final flight home. Fortunately two guys turned up with cash and took it away there and then. Otherwise it would still be sitting in that car-park!
