Been thinking about a Prius for the work run as the Signum gets about 25mpg on the A/B road trip to work, it's only 6 miles but usually all accelerate & brake.
Was looking on Autotrader and there are a few suspiciously cheap ones on there, e.g. an 08 with 39k for £3k and an 09 with 35k for £4k
I'd assume they'd be worth more than that so an I missing something?

If its this £4000 black one you must be daft to assume its genuine.
Its got SCAM written all over it.
A link to a dealership where the car doesnt exist, No phone number, private seller but a big dealership link, and easiest spot of all is the price.
Anyway back to the point. What the f
k would you want to drive one of them for??

Only messing, your choice. Drive what you want, I know ive driven some s
t in the past.
Advert has gone as far as I can see. Presumably PH doubted the veracity too.
These scammers are getting really quite sophisticated and, as in this case, use a dealers appearance to perfect their scam.
I would strongly suggest you exercise caution over such adverts. Forty years as an Accountant has taught me that, particularly on the internet, if it looks too good to be true it very probably is too good to be true.
There are more and more of these scammers about: caution is essential.
Turning to the Prius question I have driven several of these. There`are issues particularly with battery life and even a low mileage car may be doomed to new batteries.
The replacement cost is silly money well into the thousands.
In towns like London where the green credentials can pay serious rebates and reduced costs are possible.
Otherwise I would stick to efficient low emission diesels: Not easy either.
Electric cars and electric hybrids are more trouble than they are worth IMO.
Let other test and prove the products as in the 100 year diesel development.
Buy once the gremlins have been sorted. Like any other product there will be gremlins.

Ive worked for Toyota for over 7 years and have not seen one Hybrid needing new batteries. (They have an 8yr/100,000 mile warranty anyway) so don't let this put you off. The replacement cost is silly money well into the thousands.

Expensive lesson but very educational and enjoyable.
And I have used them on the road. They are not for me.
It comes as no surprise to me that the latest cars have twin power sources. That is precisely the conclusion we came to. IMO this in itself begs a question.
The reality of the downsides has made me return to very efficient diesels for the ideal transport.
I simply do not believe electric cars are as economical or viable as modern high performance diesels.
But you are the buyer. Do what you want to. It is your money. Good Luck.
