SWMBO's Boxster has had this for a while although its only leaking a very small amount of oil so I'm holding off at the moment. Am I right in expecting £500 to fix but as its all apart we should replace the the clutch at £250 so I'm in for c£800 (although I'll budget £1k)?

2.5 years ago I paid £1100.
No clutch needed - just RMS.

This on a 996tt.

A very rare occurrence, I believe.
But it can happen.

Ross, not sure for boxster but done a few recently together when doing clutch change. Clutch takes about 4-5 hours and the IMS & RMS takes further 1.5 hours. IMS & RMS upgraded parts cost around £150 iirc. So if you are not doing the clutch, then it is an expensive job. If it is only leaking a small amount then fine, but just keep a check on it.

Mrs telford_mike had an RMS leak on her Boxster and got the clutch done at the same time. Work was done by OPC Chester:

Labour £792
Lots of seals and other bits £40 ish
Clutch repair kit plus a few screws £340

Didn't have a problem with the clutch at the time, but it seemed daft not to get it done as the car had done 30k miles.
