V8V Roadster Temp

Hi All,

How long int the current UK weather does your P&J take to get 'up to temperature'......was thinking mine is taking longer than normal but I think it may just be that I'm thinking more about it recently and had not really noticed it before.....

From past posts, there appears to be fairly common need for a replacement thermostat at about four years old. The seal fails.

Is there no way to display the oil temperature? Strange that a sports car wouldn't display this.

Nope...... I too think the V8V is a bit bereft of instrumentation, I'd love to have seen oil preasure, oil temp and volts, somewhere in the display, or even in a seperate display...

Preferably in place of the crappy sat naff......

Perhaps there might be something to be done using a DashDAQ and an imiv to get that data on the satnav screen... Hmmm. Needs cogitating.

Doesn't look like an off-the-shelf product exists (any more )

However, I'm thinking that it might be possible to use an Android tablet with TV out, and this:

And use an iMiv to get the missing information on the satnav screen.

Oil level, like in a 911 would be damn useful too.

The business with revving and dipsticks and so on is a bit fiddly.

I don't mind checking the oil...... Gives me a chance to look at that lovely motor

Indeed. I actually had mine replaced under warranty after 2 years, based on erroneous readings of something like 10 billion degrees.

Both a common and a known issue

new stat was about £180 inc labour depending where you go

usual test is to go for a drive, even in cold weather the temp should read in the middle within 10 mins or so...if it sits about 1/4 to 1/3 way round but never reaches 1/2 way properly then you need a new one generally
