When rotating the wheel by hand remember to remove your finger from around the spoke before you reach the caliper..... or you may completely tear the end of your finger off and have to have it sewn back on again.
on the plus side the handbrake cable is now tensioned correctly, i followed advice from the other thread and adjusted at the drum first and then adjusted the tension of the cable from the tunnel and the binding issue is resolved.

It looked worse than it felt...I went and told my wife i needed to go to hospital and she asked why.. so i showed her.... and i think she is still regretting asking.. 
... it was semi snapped off at the joint rather than cleanly amputated and was at 90deg with lots of jagged torn fleshy bits.. it was rather cringeworthy to look at and even the doctor gave a little shudder when he saw it .....

And mine was done properly - a clean amputation through the top of the nail on my left hand ring and little finger just catching the top of the bone.
I didn't think much of it until the surgeon explain that the only way to stitch the wound was to remove more bone and nail so that they could sew skin to skin.
Fortunately being right handed I don't really notice now and have saved a fortune on nail products

lol... i heard it snap and when i looked at it my first reaction was to call myself a retard...really i must have brusied my finger a dozen times before doing that on the calliper and still i didnt learn, hopefully this time it will stick in my brain..it caught me off guard though, the shoes had seized and were binding so it was difficult to turn the wheel, after i freed the shoes i went to give it the same ammount of turning force to spin the wheel and of course it span round quite easily and fast, hence this time i did not get away with the normal finger scrape.

ok here are some pics of the aftermath, the finger had bent back from the end joint, so no bones were broken, but the force of the finger being violently forced back on itself is what caused all the skin and flesh to tear open, and as we know when things tear they elongate in the process thats why it looked such a mess they had to cut away a lot of the extra mass of flesh before they could get the two pieces to match back together.
