its just a rumour...they (Autocar) started it about 2 years ago with shots of a test mule with 'strange' exhausts...looked like a Toyota Camry V6 was in there

since Celica/Camry used to share the same floorpan (ST-205 celica) can't see why a "camry V6" wouldn't be fitted....

not a bad unit- all alloy, very quiet, 24 valve jobbie.. used in a clubman style car in australia a few years ago, with sports exhaust- sounded naughty!

That would have got me more excited than the 111R!

Frantic 4 pots are not my kind of engines at all, much prefer extra cylinders... I drove an MX3 years ago, I think it had a 1.8 V6. Not particularly powerful, but so smooth and revvy.

I used to have a Griffith and the only thing I miss with my Elise is the torque and the sound!

There was a company, I think in Germany, doing an Elise conversion using a Vauxhall/Opel 3.0V6, super- or turbocharged. This was perhaps 6 mohts ago - I'm sure it was reported here on PH.

Maybe it's not just a rumour?
Autocar still have it in their listing, and just remember how many times Lotus and their dealers kept denying that a Toyota engine was coming!
I reckon the Toyota 4 cylinder engined car will eventually replace all the Rover engined cars, and then the top of the range will be a V6 or at least a supercharged 4 cyl.
They'll keep denying it right up until it launches as usual. In fact the 111R was out before they even launched it properly.
