What's your favourite muscle car?
Discussion
Lots to choose from, the 60s and early 70s were probably the heyday, Mustang, Barricuda, Camaro, Charger, Challenger, Firebird etc. What would your choice be? Lets see some pics please.
I'm not entirely sure what the definition of a muscle car is but I'm guessing V8 naturally-aspirated (or possibly supercharged) engine, rear-wheel drive, 4 seats, manual gearbox. Maybe that's why a Corvette is often classified as a sports car rather than a muscle car and that would mean that a TVR or a Vantage isn't a muscle car (although it meets the rest of the criteria).
Are there any modern muscle cars and does a muscle car have to be American? An M3 or an E39 M5 would meet the above criteria but I don't really think of them this way (perhaps because their predecessors were straight-sixes). An AMG Mercedes would also meet the above criteria, apart from the automatic gearbox.
This is probably the sweet spot for me (or any mid 1960s Mustang for that matter).

This is probably my favourite (to look at) of the reborn muscle cars, as the new Mustang looks a bit too contrived for me. I have no idea whether it drives as good as it looks though.

As a non-American alternative I rather like these. I know it's an Audi which automatically makes it seriously uncool but it's probably their most elegant looking car. This is the V8 S5 rather than the RS5 as it was available as a manual. Does the 4WD prevent it from being a muscle car?

Lets see those pics then please.

Saw lots of these when I was over in the US last year and must admit to developing something of a soft spot for them. They sound fantastic.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
