Hi all,

Wondering if I could get some advice/help/ where to shop info

I am looking for a double din touch screen system. That is comparable with iPhone 4 and can be used with my current steering wheel control.

I would like: sat nav, Bluetooth, cd player, aux, radio, USB function

Can anyone suggest a unit? I don't want to spend more than 150, however it's my bday soon so mag e stretch to 200.

Only the cheap Chinese offerings on ebay would come close to what you want for your budget, but trust me, you wouldn't be happy with it.

For £200 you could get a single DIN and a tomtom/garmin with get the features you want.

You aren't going to get anything with satnav for that price, and you'll find not much works with manufacturer steering wheel controls.

XTRONS TD714 - features all you're after bar nav for £130

XTRONS TD714G - sat nav included - £201

Similar spec unit from Alpine or Kenwood would be 3 times that.

What's the car?

Dyanvin make some pretty awesome looking units that are designed to look oem - I hate the look of aftermarket stereos!. Some are running Android and are operate more like tablets rather than a traditional car stereo. All have nav, bluetooth, iPod connect, touch screen, etc.

Not cheap though, you probably won't find what you're looking for with £150.

I want one myself!

Thanks for the response, from what I understand I need to start saving and get something mainstream as to avoid disappointment.

The car is a focus mk2 already has the Sony double din unit in it however I feel it's abit lacking function wise

A proper stereo system and a smartphone for nav solutions?
I use my HtC desire with a crale and charger when I need nav, It's every bigt as good as a tomtom only it was 'free' to me.... Aftermarket sat navs just look... Naff IMO.

I can download a Tomtom vanigation app for 50 quid from the app store, the problem i have is i ake a lot of phone calls in the car and the sterio (as the phone is in a cradle linked to the sterio via aux) doesnt up the voice volume so the phone has to be on speaker meaning its hard for the other person to hear me speak.

would a parrot system be worth looking into?

If you take a lot of calls when driving you really need to think through what exactly it is you want, and your prioriies ,and then go to a specialist installer who will be able to help.

A £200. (Or even £500) ebay special will NOT do what you need it to. They're cheap, badly thought out ,badly made and poorly implemented.

It sounds like a Parrot hands free and a stand alone sat nav may well make most sense and be closest to your budget.
