bottles of beer !

i know its a little early....but has the mayor banned all beer this year ?
last year was a disaster for the supermarkets ,and anyone who arrived early at camp.

Not sure where that rumour came from, they didnt seem to mind the 12 crates of stubbies we bought on the wednesday. Or the wine...or the whiskey..

My car and trailer was checked at Terte Rouge last year but we had been warned so only cans visible!

I read elsewhere that no such problems in 2012.

I carried bottles of beer into the circuit through the main entrance and up to my seat in the grandstand - never got challenged once!

Banning of beer from on circuit camping sounds like yet another good reason to camp somewhere else!

We just stuck them in the icebox under everything in the back, a few in the fold up chairs, few in the glove box and thr rest with the spare tyre.... Happy days!

last year ,on the monday prior to the race, the mayor announced the ban of all alcohol on site, two hours later it was changed after a meeting with the aco, to a ban of all glass bottles !
a lot of beer was confiscated on the tues and wed !

We found plenty of cans available at local supermarkets, and found they were actually preferable to bottles as you could stack them more easily in the fridge and they were easier to carry in the coolbox/bag to the grandstands. You could also get more of them in a coolbox / bag than bottles.

Also, if mess is part of the issue, if the ACO would provide recycling containers on their sites I'm sure people could be persauded to use them.

I have spoken to the ACO and this was a Faux Pass by an over zealous ACO official.
There will not be a similar restriction this year.

I thought (so the rumour goes...) it was to do with trouble at the Bike 24hrs a few weeks prior to that...

We were cursorily checked, but never had any bottles confiscated! They were never on plain view, just to make sure.

we had an email late on the monday informing us of the bottle rules, so we stopped off in the carrefour on the way to the track, got loads of cans !
by friday,sat the hypers were heavily discounting bottled beer ...no one was buying any !

Spoke to friends from the ACO about this at Autosport.

Last years problem was caused by a member of the team of the Prefecture (so above the Mairie) who enacted the controls placed on the Moto24 by accident.

Funny looking back on it but not at the time...

Cans are the safest bet for taking beer into the circuit...and cause less problems (broken glass is not your friend)

Sorry to go off topic, but would anyone with connections to the ACO be able to suggest the idea of having proper recycling bins around the sites ? They do it with the plastic cups already, so it's not like it's a totally off their radar - just seems a bit of a missed opportunity really.

We always try to be sensible with our rubbish, but we did notice last year that there was a lot of glass and cans around which could all be recycled, if only they could provide separate bins for it. A few flyers handed out by the people showing you to your plot could remind people to try and recycle things.

Would probably also help on the site clean-up after the event.

It was a bottle ban....

Then again I doubt they'd force you to drink wine from a box!!

Have to agree, We were told a bottle ban was inforce just before we left. Did`nt make the slightest difference. Arrived on Wed, no search of the car. Out to hyper market Thursday, loaded up and still no search. Re-cyk bins would be a dam good idea.


If theres a bottle ban , I`m with the box of wine brigade. lol
