I am running an old school 1998 Galaxy with the VW AFN TDI engine. I bought it with no history of the cambelt change so have to get it done, and ideally cheaply. It is DIY'able but I would prefer to give the aggro when bolts get stuck etc to a professional.

I have had a quote for labour only of £180, and this would seem to be a bit pricey for a 2 hour job and I have an invoice for 2009 where the previous owner was charged £80 for labour albeit in Newcastle.

Can anyone suggest someone I can get a quote from, I am in Welwyn but can travel!

There's a garage in hatfield - near asda on lemsford road. I used them and their labour rate was competitive.

They also do a 10% discount for students, as I have a student card I'd be happy to use it to get you the discount!
