Got a German buyer coming to collect my Land Rover he bought on the bay later. Reading the V5, it's not very clear what needs to be done for permanent export.

There is a section that states 'only use this section if you are personally exporting the vehicle permanently', which I'm not. In the same section it also says 'if you are selling privately to someone who does not have a GB address see; Your Reg Cert and you (INS160) for advice'.

I've been on the website searching but it doesn't say anything about selling privately to someone who does not have a GB address.

I don't want to be liable for anything if I don't get this right.
Anyone done it and know the ins and outs?

Thanks in advance.

They take the V5, you write to the DVLA stating the car has been permanently exported IIRC.

Best to get Herman to sign a dated and timed declaration that he took the car at xx:xxam on the yyth of January, just so you have a bit of proof you weren't driving in case he decides to get himself a speeding ticket on the way home.

He's bringing a trailer but I see your point.

Shouldn't I keep hold of some of the V5?

I sold a car to a chap in italy last year.I phoned the dvla and they told me to write them a note saying that the car was sold abroad on the said date and to give details of the new owners name and address.
I also kept the export section of the V5 and sent that along with it and everything has been fine.

If you have any remaining tax on the car you just need a form from the post office and send this along with the tax disc for a refund.

It really couldn't be easier. Date and sign the Notification of Permanent Export and send this off to the DVLA. The new owner takes the V5. That will be the last you hear of it.

"Simples" as some people insist on saying.

As simple as that? Good news.

Tax removed so I'll get the refund too.

biggrin I did see 'Land Rover' and even having had a TD5 I stopped for a moment before I typed 'speeding' but it was the first offence that came into my head.
He might crack a 30 limit with a following wind.......

What are you mad flogging an ex Miltary Vehicle to a German, Remember Germany broke the versailles treaty, it could be another ploy by the Germans to get Miltary Hardware without people finding out.
If they go into the Sudatenland land again it will be on your head.
Next we will be seeing Mr Cameron walking about with a piece of paper in his hand which was signed in Munich. lol
