Has anyone pulled together a list of where TVR sourced all the parts from for our beloved Chim? I know for example:

Rear lights are upside Fiesta lights
Front indicators came from a challenger tank
Brakes are mainly from big Fords
Steering mainly Vauxhall

Just a wondering.................

When I was at Uni I used to go into the local motor parts shop and ask for a set of wiper blades for a TVR 350i (I had a Ford Escort and they took the same blades and it made me feel better) ...

Don't do that with the alternator. Using registration number £200. Using land rover part number £65

LOL - God no! Now I actually own one I don't ask for *ANYTHING* "for a TVR" if I can help it ... seems to automatically double / treble the price (or ellicit the reply "ahhhh well that would be a custom TVR part - you need to order than from TVR direct" if you go into Halfords for brake pads / wipers / filters).

On a slightly serious note though - be careful on the alternator part number. I ordered a refurb kit (new brushes and regulator) for an A127-65 which is supposedly what's fitted to my Chim and the guy at the suppliers (I forget who they were as it was two years ago) queried it further as (apparently) there are two versions of an A127-65 - one with an external fan and one with an internal fan. Also he told me that the "65" in the model number refers to it being a 65amp alternator and he said that it was the 100amp that was fitted to the Tivs which has a different regulator pack.

Anyway, I ordered what he suggested I needed on the understanding that I could return it if it wasn't right (and also ordered a nice cheap A127-65 regulator from ebay because I only had one weekend to do teh job and didn't trust what he'd told me) - the one he supplied fitted perfectly whereas the ebay one was absolutely nothing like close.

It's obviously quite possible that the A127-65 and the A127-100 are physically interchangeable as complete units and lets face it - there's not a lot of electrics on a Tiv to draw mega-currents so the lower output probably isn't an issue either.
