When i was looking for an TVR, (I wanted a Chim) I was looking for a year on and off, Then one day had a call from raytom saying get over to look at this S.
I was off work because my other car was in for a sevice so i had a free day to go and look (must be fate) Went to see it and drove it away 20mins later
I can remember not sleeping that night and i kept looking out of the window to check it was still there! and thinking yes I own a TVR

Have you found a car yet?
There is an S3 in sprint for 5 1/2 might be worth a look or a phone call even if your not ready with your funds.

I know what you mean farmer, I recon I'll be sleeping in it and doing my sales calls standing up for about a weel sp I can oogle at it out the window

Ive got 2 cars to look at, and I'll have seen both V8S's by sunday. Then sometime next week I should have raised enough cash and then Im sorted. Except for the insurance bit. Might have to take a day out to look for a good quote, considering I have no ncb but it wont be long!

Right, the news the news I got insurance with good old sunninghill! Im paying through the nose for it at £2400 (better than quotes of £2600, and £3000. The only other option was £1900 but that was declined in the end, due to the chimera wheels being a non-standard mod.

I went and did what a few others have done, and decided to buy the first V8S I saw. OK, I know... bit dangerous for captain newbie here but... I trust the owner, a TVR lover, TVRCC member (Rodney Astridge, reg VRL67S - anyone know him?) and his hobby is mechanics. Several hours on the phone, and 3 hours driving together and Id made up my mind. I was gonna look at C14PPYs but he wasnt keen on coming down once I found one I told him I liked. Fair play. Hes a nice chap and his offer to come down to show me was more than very generous without my having found another TVI for sale...

I drove my first TVR... round the parking lot (no insurance, couldnt go on the road) and was grinning all weekend thinking remembering the experience

That V8 is awesome!! The ground just rumbles and reverberates several feet behind the vehicle when the car is idling, sending shivering shockwaves of orgasmic pleasure up your legs. Better than sex? Seems to be yes!

(had to post twice, ran out of space) 2 calls to my bank manager for extentions on uncleared cheques in the business account, plus yet another overdraft extention (cant wait for the cash to arrive) and Ive scraped up the dosh I need to buy... and... and its coming tonight!!

I hope. If it doesnt come tonight I'll be down the boozer drowing my sorrows whining to the gf that life isnt fair, tomorrow seems like an eternity away.

You've all been there Im sure Im so excited I cant work properly.

I never thought the day would come when I'd chuck out the pics of your luverly car I printed off V8Smith

Anyway, the chaps delivering, has taken the afternoon off to replace one of the water hoses which is cracking, changed the oil filter this weekend and is fixing the bonnet catch which springs on the drivers side sometimes if you hit big bumps. Im just hoping he can sort out a lift all the way back to essex - if he can, he's delivering tonight.

Being chicken, I wont drive it back from essex (to Sussex).

I'll let you know when I get it pics coming soon

Meanwhile,

feckin hell! £2400 to insure it! thats more than BattyMatty or whatever he is called and he is 19!

I thought I was raped by paying £1300 at 23 on my first TVR. At 25 I am paying less than £600 on my V8 Chimaera.

I know, I'm paying through the nose, but sunninghill was the cheapest (track day included) and one of the only companies that didnt decline me. Cheers everyone for your encouragement, and help!

Id love to see your wheels also mate, we should meet up for sure! Once I get my car, I'll be living in a freshly waxoiled cardboard box, under a bridge near the new bypass in Eastbourne, and will be able to offer all guests cold beans and rainwater if you've had to travel far Donations encouraged, vouchers accepted, I might be eating beans for a long while to come

Dad's coming down from Canada this week, praps next week when things are less busy? Where abouts are you Mike?

Im sure I'll find out soon enough, but how long did everyone say the grin last?

Well done bob. Good choice.
Shame about the price of the insurance - I'm sure Chimaera wheels were fitted as standard (along with 2 or 3 other types at times) on the V8S. Dunno what the insurance company are on about!

Anyway, enjoy it mate!

Mine has standard Chimaera wheels from new, so not sure what the problem is . AFAIK the V8S has every type S wheel fitted at some point plus the chimaera ones.

Re awesome,

Mike, horsham is not too far. You'll have to bring your V8S down at some point - Having to enjoy it being reviewed on a computer screen just isn't good enough for me its a really fine looking machine!

Harry, I dont know what to say... other than I already paid a £550 deposit on the £2400 policy The old owner told me the chim wheels were a non standard mod, which is interesting... theres always next year and being able to brag to you lot next year "how much my insurance has gone down this year" I just wont mention the before and after figures

Bad news. Or good, depending. Whilst repairing the hose that connects to the water thingy, the owner found a crack. Some welding work was done, and now the car wont start. It might be the coil, I dunno, and now Im not sure if the car IS coming today, or not. Oh the pain, the suffering, the anxiety of not knowing...

By the way, does anyone have a vehicle purchase form... just a pre-made "im selling, im buying, reg number xxx, we agree, sign here" form. Its a 9k cash deal, and rather than make something up I thought Id ask.
