Hello

I am looking at 2 x 2000 model SP6 Cerberas at roughly the same price (12.5 k)

1 is all original with full history and what appears to be no mods or rebuilds

the other has fsh, had bigger wheels, headlamp conversion, engine rebuild etc

which car could be the better buy ?

answers most appreciated

cheers

Absolutely no contest (subject to chassis...) - first one has best colour combo and recent rebuild/nice bits...

unless you're an@l for originality, love purple and want to spend more

I'd favour the one with an engine rebuild and new-ish clutch, aftermarket shocks are a bonus. Chassis condition is a must check, but wheels are easily changed.

A clutch rebuild at 32K then a new clutch at 38K - do cerbs really get through them that fast?

Only one winner for me,the 1st one, especially if you prefer the newer headlights.May not be the right way to look at it but the headlight conversion & outriggers are near enough the same price,so on the 2nd one you'd be paying for one or the other or both. But if the outriggers are sound on the 1st you'll be paying for neither!

Bare in mind that Powers warranty will have run out,but give em a call to check it HAS been done, have a chat & you may be able to buy a new warranty off them after an inspection.

Obviously check em both out,but its No1 for me bud.Brilliant colour too ;-)

Prefer the original looking one but devil in the detail.

You might want to take a long look at the history as to why the light conversion was done. It would not come from the factory like that. The first cars to have the light conversions were not fully blended into the wings. Only later cars (late 2001 onwards) have fully blended lights like the first car in your list. So the lights were done post new and could have been the result of a heavy front impact so check the chassis very carefully

No Cerbs dont go through clutches like that unless they are being driven badly and with no mechanical sympathy. Had to replace my original clutch after 29k miles only because the slave cylinder failed. When the clutch was removed they recon it still had quite a few thousand miles left in it. If the car has obviously been driven that un sympathetically i wouldnt touch it with a barge pole.

The purple car's service history consists of stamps in the service book (or it did when I looked at the car 9 months ago).

I agree with this, for me looking at picture 3 of the original one versus picture 1 of the one with headlight conversion it is no contest, just looks more "how it should be". This may be an age thing, I had a one in 2001 with original lights and wheels so would look for that again if I was buying one.

GTS Viper blue and spiders seems more a T car spec.....

yes I managed 36k on the last one and the RP slave sorts the slave life time issues out too.

I have never had to replace a clutch due to fingers etc - I have replaced a couple as when engines were out it was worth dropping in a fresher one.

For a moment there Ralph I thought you were buying one smile

Clutches last depending on how they are treated. I'm still on the original, third owner, 46K miles

Just had slave and clutch done by Raceproved she is like a new car now, the pedal was very heavy when i got her a year ago (come out from behind sofa Bob no blame in your direction) I have done 6,000 in the last 12 months and only in the last 3 months did i notice fluid loss from clutch reservoir.

Topped it up and bled it a couple of times but the slave was toast, looking through old receipts it had the slave done by the owner before last but only a refurb of the TVR slave so that lasted 10,000 in total. When Raceproved took it to bits the fingers were also shot as well as the slave leaking like a sieve.
My left calf has now gone flabby as the new clutch/slave is light as a feather and makes the car even more of a joy to drive drivingclap

We're very close might need to ask someone close by to give me a ride in a well prepared example so I know what to look for scratchchin

Unless Chris gets her way and we end up with a Tamora argue

Realise it's off topic, but couldn't resist ... my Cerbera had it first new clutch at 41,000 miles smile
