So there I was, looking at the classifieds... And I stumbled across the Caymen! 20 ish K!

I currently have an Impreza STi that's mapped and pretty quick. However, I do fancy a change, and at 20K this seems appealing. I do about 5 track days a year and if I bought one I would track it... What sort of costs would I expect? Is a 20K Caymen a money pit?

I know nothing about this marque...

Thoughts welcome?

Cayman: a semiaquatic reptile of Central and South America that resembles an alligator but has a more heavily armored belly. Also has a distant relative that has a tendency to eat rear intermediate shafts and dribble from it's rear main seal... wink

Judging by all the depreciation doom mongerers out there I would say my car is getting close to the £20k mark these days.
On a poll of one I would say if you spend a bit of time searching you will find a great car at this price which should give you years and miles of driving pleasure.
I've read it a million times on here - buy on condition and history and you won't go far wrong

Drove a Cayman for the first time this week.
Feels like a sports car, sounds great, beautifully balanced and loves being thrown around.
Hard to fault it as a driver's car but sure some of these spelling pedants will beg to differ!

Lesson 5: know nationality first. I'm British hence I would use spelt as opposed to spelled

Gotta love the Porsche forum on PH. Someone comes on looking for advice, and the first 4 posts takes the mick about his mis-spelling of the car, and the majority of the rest of the thread is a debate over the correct usage of spelt/spelled. laugh

OP. They're apparently a great handling little machine, but ugly as sin to my eyes, and very little road presence.

Lesson 6: (This is fun) You are referring to the fact that spelt is not used by our American friends? It makes no difference. Spelled is still historically correct English, although I have to accept that either is accepted today.
