Peugeot 107 (Aygo C1 etc) clutch issue

.. Or at least I reckon it's the clutch.

All of a sudden it's become a bit notchy going into first gear, and it grinds when you put it in reverse. Apparently it was OK one morning, then the following evening the symptoms presented themselves.

I've read a lot about premature clutch failure on these things, but there's no other issues such as slippage and it changes gear absolutely fine (well, as fine as a cheap POS gearbox can feel) once moving, with no juddering.

I reckon that the clutch cable needs adjusting where it meets the clutch fork, as it may be causing it to drag by not releasing absolutely 100%? That or the pressure plate is fked, or the gearbox synchros are knackered, but if the symptoms came by so suddenly, these seem unlikely?

Has anyone had any experience of these to share?

If it has suddenly started to happen then I'd guess that the cable is frayed and about to break. A new clutch cable may be necessary. They don't usually stretch suddenly unless some of the strands of wire that make up the cable snap.
